About

Hello! My name is Abby. I am a 2nd year music specialist in the North Texas area. I teach Kinder-5th grade music, and work on a 6-day rotation. I graduated from Baylor University in 2024, and am a proud member of TMEA.
In my time at Baylor, I have had experience in all the following areas: performance, service, teaching, observing, arranging, and conducting! While horn is my primary instrument, I started my journey with music as a young child taking piano lessons. I then continued more education through singing for fun which lead me to take on vocals as my secondary "instrument" at Baylor.

Instruments: Horn (primary), Piano (10+ years), Vocal (degree secondary), ukulele, recorder
Certifications: Music EC-12, PPR, CPR Certified, TEA Trainings, Kodaly Level 1 SMU
*I will graduate from Baylor University in May 2024

Music is pretty cool, but I also have a heart for service! This whole website encapsulates my philosophy, which is that music is for everyone! As an elementary teacher, I hope to encourage all of my students to make music their home, whether as a music performer, writer, or casual listener.

Classroom Management:
Love and Logic Approach
Through my time at Baylor, we were assigned to read Teaching with Love and Logic, which is a fantastic book about various classroom management challenges, successes, and methods. With mental health being at an all time low in our country, teachers need to be prepared to love and redirect students in a kind, honest, and firm way. Read more about this approach here
